A lifetime in basketball. A commitment to developing Recruit Ready athletes.

Early Playing Years & College Basketball

Jeff Master’s connection to the game began long before his coaching career. As a young player, he developed an intense work ethic, a love for competition, and an understanding of what it takes to stand out on the court. That foundation carried him into college basketball, where he continued to grow as a player while learning the game at a deeper, more strategic level.

Those years shaped Jeff’s perspective on discipline, preparation, leadership, and the true demands of playing beyond high school.

Coaching Career & First Recruited Athlete (1996)

Jeff transitioned into coaching in the mid-1990s, starting at the high school level. In 1996, he recruited his first athlete to play college basketball—an experience that sparked a lifelong commitment to helping players earn opportunities at the next level.

From that point forward, Jeff spent more than 15 years coaching high school basketball across multiple programs. He developed players at every position, built strong cultures, and learned firsthand what separates a good high school athlete from a college-ready one.

Through hundreds of practices, games, tournaments, and film sessions, Jeff learned how players mature, how teams grow, and how recruiting actually works behind the scenes.

Recruiting, Scouting & Building College Connections

As a recruiter and scout, Jeff built relationships with college coaches, athletic programs, and player development networks. He learned what coaches value most:

  • Character
  • Consistency
  • Coachability
  • Leadership
  • Body language
  • Academic discipline
  • Work ethic
  • Ability to accept roles
  • How players perform under adversity

Jeff has evaluated players in gyms, showcases, AAU environments, camps, and private workouts. He understands the difference between talent, potential, and readiness — and he teaches athletes how to understand that difference, too.

Certified Sports Agent in Florida

Jeff is currently a certified sports agent in the state of Florida, working directly with athletes and families to guide them with professionalism, clarity, and integrity.

This gives him a unique advantage:
He understands not only development and recruiting, but also contracts, communication, NIL, compliance, and the business side of sports.

Parents appreciate that level of knowledge.
Athletes benefit from it directly.
Coaches trust it.

Why Jeff Built JM Sports

Over the years, Jeff watched countless athletes struggle—not because of talent, but because of:

  • confusion about the recruiting process
  • poor guidance
  • bad habits
  • weak communication
  • unrealistic expectations
  • academic issues
  • lack of leadership or maturity
  • not understanding what college coaches expect
  • He built JM Sports to fix that.

JM Sports delivers the clarity, structure, and honest guidance he believes every athlete deserves. It is built on real coaching experience, real recruiting experience, and real conversations with college coaches over many years.

Experience That Parents and Coaches Can Trust

Jeff’s background gives him a rare combination of perspectives:

  • College athlete
  • High school coach (15+ years)
  • Recruiter and scout
  • Certified sports agent (current)
  • Mentor to athletes across multiple levels

He knows the physical, mental, academic, and emotional demands placed on athletes.
He understands how parents feel as they navigate an unfamiliar process.
He knows what coaches look for because he has sat on both sides of the recruiting conversation.

The Heart Behind His Work

Above all, Jeff believes that development comes before recruiting.

He believes athletes become Recruit Ready by:

  • growing in character
  • developing discipline
  • leading with consistency
  • being coachable
  • learning to communicate
  • taking responsibility
  • understanding their identity
  • staying focused on school
  • preparing for the next level the right way

Jeff’s passion is helping athletes grow—not just into better players, but into better people.
